J. A. Parker-Herriott, OD, FCOVD

Picture

Dr. Parker-Herriott is a graduate of Pennsylvania College of Optometry, Philadelphia, PA.

She has been practicing since 1993. She received her undergraduate degree from Mercer University.

Dr. Parker-Herriott is licensed to practice in both Georgia and South Carolina. She completed a Fellowship from the College of Optometrist in Vision Development (COVD) in 1996. This allows Dr. Parker to specialize in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy, and this certifies her as a Board Certified Behavioral Optometrist. Dr. Parker-Herriott is a fellow of COVD (College of Optometrist in Vision Development).

She has spoken to health organizations in and around Savannah and continually provides community services to Chatham County schools and churches.

Her primary concern is that you get the best of care and have a good experience.

Heidi Cooper, OD - Associate Optometrist

Dr. Heidi Cooper received her undergraduate degree from Troy University in 1994 before attending Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN, where she later graduated in 1998.  She has been practicing for over 21 years, and she still loves every minute of it!

Dr. Cooper grew up in Mulberry, Florida, but has just recently moved to the Savannah area from Lincoln, Nebraska to be closer to her family.  She enjoys the time she spends with her family and friends and considers herself to be a big fan of all genres of music.  She has a son and daughter (twins!) that are going to be graduating from high school in the near future.

Her main goal to achieve with her patients is to provide a pathway for them to see effectively, whether that may be through corrective lenses or focusing on vision function and development.  She believes that no one should ever have to “slow down” simply because they have poor vision.

Dr. Cooper is now accepting new patients, both children and adults!

INTERNS

While the following individuals are not licensed doctors just yet, they are well on the path to a coveted Doctor of Optometry degree.  Dr. Parker-Herriott acts as a preceptor for students from Salus University College of Optometry and hosts several optometry students each year, teaching and guiding them as they hone their skills prior to graduating.  Under Dr. Parker-Herriott's guidance, they see patients of all ages to fine-tune their professional and clinical skills.

Randy Poon - Fourth Year Intern

Randy

Randy Poon is an international student hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Mr. Poon is working towards his Doctor of Optometry degree from Salus University in Pennsylvania and anticipates graduating in May of 2020.  In his spare time, he enjoys working on his car and on his fitness at the gym.

Q:  What inspired you to become an optometrist?

A:  “Well, my cousin is an optometrist so it’s more or less a family business at this point.  Oh, and, because—and this is a true story—when I was younger, I ended up hitting my sister in the eye with a plastic golf club.  She had to go to the hospital and everything.  It was really then that I kind of knew that I wanted to be able to save people’s vision and help them to see.”
